Fix Failed to connect to Veeam Backup and Replication Server

Veeam Backup and Replication is comprehensive data protection and disaster recovery solution which is capable of creating image-level backups of virtual, physical servers, cloud machines, and restoration as well. This article will discuss how to fix Failed to connect to Veeam Backup & Replication Server: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. When attempting to connect to the Veeam Backup & Replication server using the console, the following error may be prompted.

Why was the error “Failed to connect to Veeam Backup & Replication Server” prompted?

You may encounter the following error below “Failed to connect to Veeam Backup & Replication Server: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it” when trying to run Veeam Backup & Replication tool.

There are numerous reasons for this and it is primarily due to the VBR services not running.

Fix “No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it”

There are multiple causes for this failure to connect, such as firewall issues etc. In my case, the services weren’t running. To fix this, follow the steps below.

Launch the services.msc to see if the needed services are running. As we can see, the SQL Server Service isn’t running.

To resolve this, click on start or right-click on the service and click “start”.

Also, I noticed the Veeam Backup service and the Veeam Backup Service REST weren’t running as shown below.

I started both services and as you can see below, the two services are running.

Launch the Veeam Backup & Replication Tool and enter your credentials. I am currently connecting with my Windows session authentication. Click on connect when you are ready.

As you can see, Veeam is starting up and we should be able to access the console very shortly.

I countered that too. it happened when tried to install certificated into veeam. try to installed veeam B&R or try to repair it

Very sorry to hear this! Kindly take a look at the log/Event Viewer for more information as this error is a generic error…
