Microsoft To End Security Updates On Windows 10 20H2 Next Month

Microsoft has announced that it will stop security updates on multiple editions of Windows 10 20H2 and Windows 10 1909 on May 10, 2022.

This was contained in a support document issued by the company on Friday which stated that Windows 10 20H2 (also known as the October 2020 Update) will reach the end of service (EoS) for Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro for Workstations users.

Recall that Microsoft had earlier issued a statement in January to end security updates on Windows 10 20H2. Thus, the Friday statement is a reminder to users.

The company explained that: “The May 2022 security update, released on May 10, is the last update available for these versions.

End of service will be reached for Windows 10 Home, Pro, Pro Education, and Pro Workstations on May 10.

“After that date, devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates containing protections from the latest security threats.” the statement concluded.

Windows 10 21H2 is also rolling out to seekers — Windows users who manually check for updates — on Windows 10 2004 and higher via a quick update experience similar to monthly updates.

If you have a device running a Windows 10 version nearing EoS and you’re not offered an update to Windows 10 21H2, you should manually check for one through Windows Update.
