Enable Access to Microphone

To proceed, you will need to launch the System Preferences as shown below. There are a couple of ways to launch it, one of which is to choose the Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Security & Privacy , then click Privacy.

Alternatively, you could search for System Preferences by clicking on the LaunchPad and then search for System Preferences as shown below.

Application permissions

On the sidebar, click on Microphone. You should see a list of apps that have requested access to your microphone. Approved Apps will have a checkmark next to them, while those that are denied will not.

Therefore, we have to grant access to Google Chrome!
Microphone settings

Click on the Padlock to authenticate with your admin password. You will be required to enter your password to unlock the Security and Privacy Preferences.

Mac privacy

I will have to check the box close to Google Chrome in order to approve Microphone access. When this is done, the window below will be displayed instructing you to quit and reopen.

Access control

In the Window displayed below, click on OK to enable access to Google Chrome

In the subsequent window, click on OK as well.

This will end the process of granting Microphone access to Google Chrome on Mac.

Deny Microphone Access on Mac

To deny this access, simply uncheck the box near Google Chrome, restricting access from now on.

To activate this setting, quit and reopen Google Chrome. This action is necessary for the changes to apply.
