From the policy Manager,
Click on File
Click on Restore.
From the Restore dialog box
Enter the Administrator User Name and Passphrase
—This step may include other steps for Authentication as defined by your administrator.
And click OK.
Here enter the encryption key you used when creating the backup image.
Now the XTM device restores the backup image.
The XTM restarts and uses the backup image.
Select the location and file name of the saved backup image file created for this device.
Click OK and ensure to wait a little while before connecting once again.
Note: Never restore a backup image created from a different XTM device. Each backup image is unique to a single device; it includes the serial number, certificates, and private keys for that device.
This is only required when you wish to restore an existing configuration on an XTM device.
Note: An XTM device backup image is an encrypted and saved copy of the flash disk image
from the XTM device flash disk. It includes the XTM device OS, configuration file, feature keys,
Device Management users, passphrases, DHCP leases, and certificates. The backup image also includes
any event notification settings that you configured in Traffic Monitor. You can save a backup image
to your management computer. This backup image is unique to each device and includes the serial number, certificates, and private keys unique to that device.

Note: Never should you restore a backup image created from one XTM device to a different XTM device, even if both devices are the same model.
From the Policy manager
Click on File
click on backup
Enter the administration username and passphrase

browse and select the backup path
type and confirm the chosen encryption key.
——–This key is required to encrypt the backup file and if forgotten then we are sorry nothing can be restored 😉
and click on OK.
You can also connect to your XTM device via Web UI
Type into any of the browsers as https://1x.xx.xx:8080/
Setting up watchguard and accesing it using WSM (watchguard system manager)
1. Power cable
3. A watchgurd XTM device
4. An Ethernet cable
5. But if you wish to connect via the console cable then you would need a serial cable.
If the firewall has been configured before, ensure it is on the same subnet and connect the ethernet cable
from your management PC to the port on the firewall, and if the are not on the same network,
modify the network properties in other for them to be in the same network with the internal interface.
