In this article, we shall discuss the fix for “This installation package could not be opened: Verify that the package exists and that you can access it”. This error occurs when you are trying to install a software package. But the system cannot find or access the installer file in the path. Or due to the fixes we have explained below. Please see “Remote Desktop cannot find the computer this in the specified network: Verify the computer name and domain that you are trying to connect“.

The Error “This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it. Or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package”.

The command (syntax) below prompted this error and below the syntax are steps to mitigate or resolve this error.

Also, see how to ‘Resolve DISM unspecified error when removing preinstalled packages(Error code 15601)“, and how to add a new Domain Controller to an Existing Domain. Here is how to Backup existing and new BitLocker Recovery Keys to Active Directory.

Solution to Installation package could not be opened: Verify the package exists

In this case, copy it to the system32 folder and then it should work. See the second suggestion below for more information. Below are other possible fix to this issue

  • Make sure you run command-line (cmd) with administrative privilege).
  • Ensure you run the installer in the right user path in command-line. Ensure the path where you are running this application from is the same where the installer is saved.
  • Ensure you have privileged access to the INSTALL FOLDER or else you will also have this error.

If none of the above works for you. Please disable any antivirus or security software temporarily, as they might interfere with the installation process. After the installation, remember to re-enable your security software

I hope you found this my solution helpful in fixing “installation package could not be opened” error. Leave a comment or a question below.
