You can decide to save the password as a CSV file that you can store offline in a safe location or you can import it into another password manager like 1Password. Reasons for Exporting Your Passwords

  • In case you lose access to the device where you have the browser that did not sync your account.
  • You may decide to change your browser or the Password Manager.
  • You may want to Archive or Print your passwords for offline records.
  • You want to delete your passwords from your browser for security reasons.
  • Note that exporting your Passwords will help manage your accounts without sticking with a specific browser.

There is a note of warning to be careful when you are exporting your Passwords in CSV files because this file can be accessible and read by anyone.

Export Firefox Passwords

Follow these steps on how to Export Firefox Passwords

1: Open Firefox and click the three horizontal lines menu button in the top-right corner.

2. Select Passwords from the Menu. The page for your logins will open in a new tab.

3. On the password logins page click the three-dots menu icon, then click on Export Logins.

4. You get a Warning message about your Passwords that will be saved in a TXT format and can be read by anyone who has access to the file. If you are good with this you can click the Export button.

5. Choose a location and name for your CSV file and click Save. The CSV will contain all your Passwords so make sure it is kept in a secure location.

Remove Passwords from Firefox

After Exporting the Password, you can now go ahead to delete it from the browser

6. Open Firefox and click the horizontal lines menu button and select Passwords.
7. On the password logins page click the three-dots menu icon, then click on Remove All Logins.

Import Passwords from Firefox to IPassword

8. 1Password is a password manager that can serve as a secure location where you can move the CSV file into. Install the 1Password browser extension for Firefox by searching for it and click Add to Firefox to add the extension.

9. Create 1Password account and login with your credentials. Then create a Vault and open it. Click Import Data.

10. Choose where you are adding your passwords from, in this scenario click Firefox.

11. Keep clicking the Continue button until you will Upload your data to 1Password. Select the CSV file you saved from Firefox earlier. When you are ready to continue click Import

Yes, that is possible. On the right corner above click the three dots and Select Import from Another Browser or Select Import from File.
