Windows Server Management service

In this article, we will discuss the fix for ‘Fix Failed to create scheduled task due to Windows Server Management service issue”. Please see Automatically Log Out After a Period of Inactivity on Mac, fix Logon Failure Reasons for Windows Event Viewer, and IP Address blocked on Synology NAS due to forgotten Password. Windows Admin Center (WAC) is a web-based management tool for Windows Server and Windows PCs. It allows administrators to manage their infrastructure from a central location.

WAC is often used to manage multiple servers from a single interface. If one of the servers has WMI or management service issues, it could impact how tasks are created or monitored for that server through WAC.

WAC relies on WMI to perform various management tasks, including creating scheduled tasks. If there are issues with WMI or the Windows Server Management service. WAC will not be able to execute these actions successfully.

Please see How to create a scheduled task with Windows Admin Center, and How to schedule and run update via Windows Admin Center.

Why was the error prompted “Failed to create scheduled task due to Windows Server Management service issue”?

The following error below was prompted when i was creating a scheduled task with Windows Admin Center

In my case, the Windows firewall excluded the program executable, causing Windows Admin Center to fail loading the application.

create scheduled task error

Solution

I removed the file from the exclusion list in the Windows firewall, but I still encountered the error message Failed to create scheduled task due to Windows Server.

Note: You can have the firewall rule deleted.

Note: In your environment, “Failed to create scheduled task due to Windows Server” might not work. Take a look at your event viewer for further error analysis. See the link for a similar solution.

I hope you found this solution very useful. Please feel free to leave a comment below.
