Wait for Completion: Exercise patience as Recuva’s scanning process unfolds, laying the groundwork for potential recoverable files.

Navigate Through Scan Results: Once the scan completes, a landscape of detected files appears, each marked with colored dots that signify their recoverability status. Green dots indicate files in prime condition for recovery, while orange and red dots denote varying levels of corruption.

Switch to Advanced Mode: Simplify your search by transitioning to advanced mode. Here, you can employ various strategies to locate your desired files:

a. Search by file name.
b. Sort files by various criteria such as File Name, Source Path, Size, and Date.
c. Utilize the “Tree view” under Options for a refined search if you remember the destination path before deletion.

Recover the Files: Once you pinpoint the files you aim to recover, check the respective boxes and click “Recover.” Select a safe destination for these files, ensuring it differs from the source drive.

Retrieve Your Files: As the recovery process concludes, your restored files will reside in the destination you designated. To maximize chances of success, consider rerunning Recuva with the “Deep Scan” option if needed.

Critical Note: Ensuring Successful Backups

While embarking on the journey to secure your data, remember this cardinal rule: if you are backing up an entire hard drive, the destination directory must have higher storage capacity than the space consumed on the source drive. Avoid saving the retrieved files onto the same storage medium from which they were initially deleted.

Conclusion

By following the steps outlined in this guide, you equip yourself with the power to recover files, reclaim control, and emerge from the shadows of a computer crash with your data intact.
