Migrate from Universal Analytics to GA4 property

Google Analytics is a web analytics tool developed by Google to track and report all traffic on your website and mobile applications. You may want to learn more about Why is Google moving from Universal Analytics (UA) property to GA4 property But in this guide I will show you How to Configure and Migrate from Universal Analytics (UA) property to GA4 property using Setup Assistant. Google Analytics is currently the most widely used web analytics on the World Wide Web. Kindly refer to the YouTube video below demonstrating these steps.

Previously we had Universal Analytics which has now been discontinued since July 2023 and we now have Google Analytics 4 which has more features and can be integrated with Google BigQuery which was previously available on the enterprise version but is now available on the free GA4

Configure and Migrate from UA to GA4

Follow these steps on How to Configure and Migrate from UA to GA4. 1. Open Analytics Homepage, Navigate down the page and click Admin.

2. Property section

Inside the Property section, click Setup Assistant to open the next page.

3. Setup Assistant Page.

On the Setup Assistant page click Open connected property.

4. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Setup Assistant Page

You will be redirected to the GA4 Setup Assistant page where you will see this message: “This property has stopped processing data. 

To continue measuring website performance, set up a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property.”. Next, click Complete GA4 setup.

5. Connected Property

Next under the Connected Property you will see your website GA4 Property Name and the Property ID. Toggle the Automatically set up a basic Google Analytics 4 property button to OFF.

6. Completing Setup

Mark all the tasks completed by clicking the “Complete the setup” which will stop this message “This property is not fully set up. You can complete the recommended setup checklist in the Setup Assistant.” from displaying.

Select all seven and click Complete Setup.

The next thing is to make all the selections and clicking Complete setup you will not see the message again.
