How to upgrade Windows Admin Center from v2411 to v2511

Microsoft has officially released Windows Admin Center (WAC) version 2511, delivering restored High Availability (HA), major backend fixes, security enhancements, and significant usability improvements across core management tools. In this article, we shall discuss “How to upgrade Windows Admin Center from v2411 to v2511”. Please, see how to deploy Veeam Recovery Orchestrator and Agents to VBR and VEM, and how to set up Windows Admin Centre on a Windows Server.

With this version, Administrators can once again deploy Windows Admin Centre in a failover cluster configuration, ensuring gateway resiliency and service continuity. The restored HA functionality works with the modernised gateway architecture introduced in previous releases, allowing organisations to maintain enterprise-grade availability without reverting to older builds.
Microsoft also improved silent installation support, enhancing command-line deployment options for automated and large-scale rollouts. This makes version 2511 particularly valuable for enterprises managing multiple gateways across environments.

Security and Other Enhancements in v2511
These updates strengthen Windows Admin Center’s role as a centralised management platform for modern Windows Server environments. Version 2511 introduces:
- New security tools aligned with Windows Server 2025
- Improvements to Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
- Updates to the VM conversion tool
- New partner extension enhancements
Windows Admin Center introduces powerful security tools for Windows Server 2025 to help organizations stay ahead of evolving cyber threats.
Key features include Silicon Assisted Security, which consolidates secured-core requirements and hardware recommendations into a streamlined view for configuring protections like VBS, Secure Boot, and TPM 2.0 as shown in the image below.

The Security Baseline tool enables enforcement of Microsoft-recommended settings and industry standards such as CIS, DISA STIG, and FIPS through OSConfig and drift control, and Windows LAPS. It automates local administrator password management and integrates with Admin Center for bulk password resets and expiration tracking

You may have to refresh to eventually be able to view the score. The Pie Chart shows the percentage of security checks passing (green slice) versus failing/warning (red slice, ~35%), based on baselines like CIS, STIG, or Secured-core Server requirements.
Counts (99/114): Likely total checks evaluated (114) with passes (99), or nodes compliant/non-compliant; red arrow emphasises degradation trends as shown below.

Windows Admin Center v2511 marks a stabilisation and refinement milestone after the architectural changes introduced in earlier releases. By restoring High Availability, fixing backend migration issues, improving VM workflows, and enhancing RDP functionality, Microsoft delivers a more reliable and enterprise-ready management platform.
Organisations running clustered environments or planning backend upgrades should strongly consider updating to version 2511 to benefit from improved resiliency, security, and performance
