Today "saturday", during one of my online classes, Zoom crashed again. Sometimes Zoom can cause your device to restart. I felt the need to update my Zoom application due to repeated crashes and restarts and one of the solutions is to update zoom. Zoom regularly provides new versions of the Zoom desktop client with new features and bug fixes. Zoom recommends upgrading to the latest version whenever it is available. There are many other reasons why Zoom may crash, you have to determine this yourself.
Method 1: To update to the latest version of Zoom software, here is how you can check for updates.
– While in Zoom, click zoom.us in the menu bar
– Click Check on updates
You will be prompted to click on install as shown below. This will open the Zoom installer window
Click on continue as shown below
You will be prompted to authenticate, enter your username and password to proceed. When you are done entering your credential,
– Click on install software
The upgrade is pretty fast, when complete click on close as shown below.
Method 2: Alternatively, if you already have the Zoom desktop client installed, you can check for updates
– Sign in to Zoom desktop client.
– Click your profile picture then click Check for Updates.
If there is a newer version, Zoom will download and install it. Please follow the onscreen (prompts) instructions to update your Mac.
Method 3: You can also manually download the latest version by clicking on download from the link. Or directly from the following sites below.
To see if your Zoom client is up to date, please follow the same procedures as described in method 1 above.
- Click zoom.us in the menu bar
- Click Check on updates
Note: It is worth re-emphasizing that you cannot participate in a Zoom meeting using a web browser like Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. Instead, you’ll have to download Zoom Client.
- If the desktop client was installed with the MSI installer by you or automatically by a system administrator, AutoUpdate is disabled by default, and the Check for Updates button is also removed.
