Remote WMI Connection: How to Enable or Disable WMI Traffic at Command Prompt Using WMI Rule Group

Steps to Enable WMI Traffic at Command Prompt Using WMI Rule Group

Enter the following below to enable WMI traffic through the firewall:

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="windows management instrumentation (wmi)" new enable=yes

This command automatically enables 8 Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) rules.

Steps to Disable WMI Traffic at Command Prompt Using WMI Rule Group

Run the command prompt as administrator. Enter the following to disable WMI traffic through the firewall:

netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="windows management instrumentation (wmi)" new enable=no

This command removes the 8 rules that were added to the WMI.
