How to fix Wi-Fi not connecting on Windows 11

When you try to connect to your Wi-Fi network and it’s not connecting automatically can be frustrating especially when you have an urgent task to be completed. The expectation is for your system to connect automatically when your Wi-Fi setting has been previously set with the Wi-Fi connection credentials, so each time you connect you will not need to enter a password again. In this guide, I will be showing you How to fix Wi-Fi not connecting on Windows 11. Steps to fix Wi-Fi not connecting on Windows 11

1. Confirm that the Wi-Fi Setting is turned On

Sometimes if your Wi-Fi setting is not set to On could cause the wireless connection not to connect and this may be the main cause of the problem.

1: Type wi-fi in the search box and click on Wi-Fi settings.

2. On the Network & internet > Wi-Fi settings page click on Manage known networks.

3. You can Search, Add network or Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to

4. Check the Connect automatically when in range. With this option your system will connect automatically when the Wi-Fi network is in range.

2. Verify Wi-Fi Connection Password is correct

You need to confirm if the Wi-Fi connection password is still the correct one or has been changed. Click on Forget on the specific Wi-Fi connection and try reconnecting to the Wi-Fi if its still in range and re-enter the password.

3.   Change Network Adapter Power Settings

If you are using a custom power plan then it’s very possible that it could be preventing your Wi-Fi adapter from starting up from sleep or hibernation.

1: Open the Device Manager and expand the Network Adapters section.

2: Right-click on the Wireless Adapter and select Properties or Double-click the Adapter.

3. Inside the Wireless properties select the Power Management tab and uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option, and click OK.

4.   Update or Reinstall the Network Adapter Driver

It’s very possible that an outdated network adapter driver could be causing the connection issue. Follow these steps to

1: Open the Device Manager and expand the Network adapters section.

2: Right-click on the Wireless Adapter and select Update driver or Double-click the Adapter.

3. You can select either to search your system for the best driver or you can navigate to where the driver is manually.

4. You will need to uninstall first before you can reinstall the driver, right-click the network adapter and select Uninstall device.

5. On the pop message click Uninstall. You can reinstall the driver after this.

5.   Reset All Network Settings

After trying all the above steps and you are still having Wi-Fi not connecting issue on your Windows 11, then its recommended to reset the network settings. This option will remove your network adapter’s data and restore it to default settings.

1: Navigate to Network & internet > Advanced network settings.

2. Under the More settings section click on Network reset

3. Click on Reset now. This will reset all network adapters back to default settings. Your computer system will rester afterwards.

Make sure your network adapter is compatible with Windows 11. When you have Outdated or corrupt network drivers this can cause Wi-Fi connection issues. Try updating your network drivers to the latest version and see if it resolves the issue.
