In this article, you will learn how to enable or disable Firefox Network Captive Portal Service. The captive portal is the page you get to see when you are connected to a public Wi-Fi network like train station WiFi, coffee shop WiFi, and many others. You can read more on How to Disable Chrome Browser Notifications on Windows, Prevent Microsoft Edge from sending your Search data to Microsoft. Here is a YouTube video on how to enable or disable this Service.

This portal is another medium business owners can advertise or pass a message to the users before they connect to the internet. So when you try to connect to this type of public internet, Firefox tries to verify the connection first by using detect portal “Firefox.com” to check if you need to log on to the Wi-Fi network or not. If you are allowed, then you are redirected to the login page.

But you can decide to remove this verification by following the steps I am going to show you. Captive portal allows business owners to show users or customers their terms of service and they may agree to it before using the free Wi-Fi.

Some captive portals ask for a username and password. This you would provide for verified customers or potential customers for patronizing them.
