Steps to Permit a Blocked File or App in Windows Security Manually

1. Open Windows Security if you want to allow an app that Microsoft Defender has blocked. Click on Virus & threat protection.

2. Click the Protection history link under Current threats..

3. Among the All recent items you can select the file or application you want to allow permission. Click the Actions drop-down menu and select Allow on device option.

Permit a Blocked File or App in Windows Security Manually by Adding Exclusions

4. Navigate to Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection. Under Virus & threat protection settings, Click Manage settings.

5. Click Add or remove exclusions.

6. Click Add an exclusion, and then select from File, Folder, File type, or Process options. You can select the application you intend to install or the file so that it can be excluded from Microsoft Defender Antivirus scan.

Once this setting is done Windows Defender will allow the app or file on the computer.

But sometimes you may have allowed an app mistakenly, so the next thing is for you to block it again.

7. Open the Virus & threat protection tab and click on Allowed threats.

8. On the Allowed threats page click on Don’t allow on the specific file or app.
