What is Synology Cloud Sync?
Let’s delve into how Cloud Sync works and how it can streamline your file management across different cloud platforms.
Synology Cloud Sync is a feature available with Synology NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices. It allows you to synchronize data between your Synology NAS and a variety of cloud storage providers, such as Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive.
It is a package you can install on your Synology NAS that lets you synchronize files between your NAS and multiple public cloud storage services. Think of it as a bridge between your NAS, which is like your own personal cloud storage, and popular public cloud services. The below are the features of Synology Cloud Sync:
- Syncs with multiple cloud services: It supports a wide variety of cloud providers including Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Baidu Cloud, and even Amazon S3 compatible storage.
- One-way or two-way sync: You can choose whether to have a one-way or two-way sync.
One-way sync means changes are only reflected in one location, while two-way keeps both locations up-to-date. - Selective sync: You don’t have to sync everything on your NAS. You can choose specific folders to keep in sync with the cloud storage.
- Encryption and compression: Synology Cloud Sync offers client-side encryption to keep your data secure during transfer and storage. It can also compress files to reduce storage space used in the cloud.
- Traffic control: You can set bandwidth limits to manage how much internet data Cloud Sync uses.
