The password has expired: Update your password and try again

Posted on 10/07/202013/03/2026 Christian By Christian No Comments on The password has expired: Update your password and try again

Azure AD Connect is an on-premises Microsoft application that’s designed to meet and accomplish your hybrid identity goals. The following error will be prompted if you wish to perform an on-premise synchronisation to the Azure Active Directory environment. In this guide, we shall discuss “The password has expired: Update your password and try again”. Please see the following guide on Azure Active Directory integration with on-Premise AD using PTA for more information also this guide for reasons to deploy AAD, how to set up Azure AD Tenant, how to add or delete users, and set permissions in Azure Active Directory.

Why was this error “The password has expired, update your password and try again” prompted?

This error is because the Global Administrator’s password has not been verified yet as shown below.

Also, see why do I need to deploy Azure Active Directory and how to use the built-in AAD Connect troubleshooting tool. In this guide, you will learn how to fix “the password has expired, update your password and try again”.

Fix Azure Hybrid Synchronization error

To resolve this issue, simply open a web browser https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/ and you will be requested.

Click on Sign-in and enter your initial password and and enter your new password

The password has been verified and you can perform the synchronisation

Now the error is no longer present as shown below.

For the following link for a similar resolution.
