
Google Chrome is the most popular web browser, it is free, fast, and secure. Even as the best search engine to me, you may find yourself battling with some of its features. You may want to stream a video on YouTube or want to watch a movie on some other website and you suddenly realize that you are unable to hear any sounds from what you are watching or listening to sound not working while watching a video on Chrome. The problem can be as simple as accidentally muting speakers or having a faulty volume (audio) issue. Chrome sound is often not working because of cookies and cache, or even malware infections. This was my issue as I had to clear cookies off my browser.

Why you may have this Issue
You may have found yourself in a situation where you are unable to hear the sounds from your video (Youtube) playing on Google Chrome. Your device volume isn't muted etc. If this is the reason you are here, you are in the right place.
Because the site has been muted, as shown in the image below, sounds will not be delivered to your headset or device speakers on Chrome.

Fixing Sound Issues on Chrome
To fix this issue, you will have to unmute the site as shown below. Just right-click on the tab and select unmute site. Following these steps, resolved issue in my case.

If these steps above do not help resolve his issues, please ensure the Allow sites to play sound (recommended) option is enabled in the Chrome sound settings:chrome://settings/content/sound.
Alternatively, you can proceed with the steps, click on the three dots (or three horizontal lines) in the upper right-hand corner of the browser, and click on the Settings page.

Clicking on Settings and Privacy as shown below and then on Site Settings.

Upon doing so, the site settings will be accessible. Within the ‘Additional content settings’ section, locate and click on ‘Sounds.’ As depicted below, it is currently unmuted. In case it was muted, you would need to expand the sound settings by clicking on them, as demonstrated below.

Ensure Sites can play sound is selected.

Exploring Alternative Methods to Fix Sound Issues on Chrome
If the general methods for resolving no sound on Google Chrome prove ineffective. Below are some common fixes for Chrome users. Check to make sure the headphones are correctly plugged in. On many devices, there should be an audible click when pushing them inside your device.
Sometimes clearing browser cache and cookies can fix Chrome no sound issue. This is especially true if Chrome has no sound only on specific websites
You may wish to reset Chrome to the default settings. Please follow the steps below.
- Click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of your Chrome browser.
- Select Settings.
- Select the Advanced tab at the bottom.
- Select Reset at the bottom.
- There will be a confirmatory box, click on the Reset tab for the process to begin.
You may also update your Chrome Bowser. To do this, please follow the steps below.
- Click the three vertical dots at the top right corner of your Chrome browser.
- If an update is available, you will see a link that says Update Google Chrome.
- Alternately, click on Help and About Google Chrome.
