Turn off calls from iPhone: How to unlink FaceTime from Mac

iPhone call settings

FaceTime is an Apple service that enables video or audio calls to someone who’s also using an iOS or iPadOS device or a Mac etc. These calls don’t count towards your data plan minutes. FaceTime is designed to protect your information and enable you to choose what you share. FaceTime is end-to-end encrypted. The phone number or email address you specify is displayed to the people you are interacting with. In this guide, I will be showing you how to unlink FaceTime from Mac. Kindly refer to these related guides: How to upgrade macOS Big Sur to macOS Monterey, how to upgrade PowerShell to the latest version on macOS via Homebrew, how to install Homebrew on macOS, how to update Zoom Desktop Client on macOS, and how to record the screen of macOS.

You can turn this off on your Mac and on your iPhone. Your iPhone is where you change settings to stop the ringing on all your other Apple devices (Mac and iPad). In this guide, I will be showing your various ways to unlink calls on FaceTime from macOS. You may want to try these steps to sign out of FaceTime or disable and enable FaceTime on Mac, and how to download a shared ZOOM recording.

Turn off calls from iPhone on other devices

In this section, we will be configuring the iPhone to stop transmitting incoming calls to Mac. To do this, we will have to open the Settings app and tap Phone and then on Calls on Other Devices.

FaceTime synchronization

Next tap on Calls on Other Devices.

Mac and iPhone integration

Follow by disabling the switch next to the Mac. In this section you may want to turn this off completely, or you can turn off specific devices if you have more than one.

Disable call forwarding

As you can see in the images below, the calls on other devices have been turned off.

It is also possible to stop calls from ringing on your Mac, but not on another device such as an iPad. To do this, you will need to visit the Phone section of the settings app just like in the steps above and turn off the device(s) you want to stop receiving calls on.

Start by launch FaceTime on your Mac, you will need to change preferences in FaceTime on your Mac

From the top menu, select FaceTime and then Preferences.

And then unselect the box for “Calls from iPhone“. Now your iPhone calls will not be available on your Mac anymore.

Note: You can also decide to turn your phone number on or off for your Mac by unchecking the Phone number or email. This will also serve the purpose of unlinking Mac.
