There is always this prompt warning message ‘Open file – Security Warning’ when you try to open an untrusted file you downloaded from the internet. In this article, I will be showing you How to Disable Open File Security Warnings on Windows but it is recommended to always do this temporarily. But How does Windows detect this security threat? There is a list of files in the Windows database that is considered malicious and when the file properties fall into this category it pops out this message also Windows database also consists of a list of file properties that are regularly used and when the file property you want to open is not included it will flag it as a threat.

Open Run and type inetcpl.cpl and click OK to open the internet properties.

2. Click on the Security tab.

3. Click on the Custom Level Button.

4. Scroll down to the Launching applications and unsafe files section and select Enabled (not secured) option. Click OK.

5. Navigate to Privacy & security > Windows Security > App & browser control

6. Toggle the Check apps and files and SmartScreen for Microsoft Edge to OFF.
