How to create Bitbucket Repository

Posted on 22/08/202422/08/2024 Christian By Christian No Comments on How to create Bitbucket Repository
BitBucket Repo

Bitbucket is a Git-based source code repository hosting service provided by Atlassian. Bitbucket offers both commercial plans and free accounts with an unlimited number of private repositories. In this article, you will learn how to create Bitbucket Repository on Bitbucket Cloud. In the next article, we will show you how to clone it to your local system. Please see ‘Import Repo to Bitbucket Cloud: Seamless Migration to GitLab‘, and how to fix importing the project failed: Project namespace path can contain only letters, digits, etc.

When the Repository is created, the Bitbucket will be empty without any code etc in it. The Bitbucket repository will be the central repository for your files that means that others can access the repository when you assign them the necessary permission.

Here is how to Clone a repository and install software from GitHub on Windows, More on GitHub Pages Deployment Guide, and “how to use Command-Line on Git Bash and GitHub Desktop to PUSH local code to GitHub“.

Create a Bitbucket Repo

Sign in to Bitbucket as shown below. If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to create one. In the list of Apps as shown below, click on Bitbucket.

BitBucket

On the welcome to Bitbucket window, click on “Create Repository“.

Create Repository

On the Create a New Repository window, enter the Repository Name and other required information and click on “Create Repository”.

Repository details

Congratulations, you have successfully created your Bitbucket Repository.

Test Repo created
The repository owner is the only person who can delete the repository. If the repository belongs to a workspace, an admin can delete the repository.

Note: After creating the repository, you will copy a version to your local system. This way you can update it from one repo, then transfer those changes to the other.

Below is an email notification alerting you of the successful repository creation. Please take some time to explore the repository you have just created. To view the shortcuts available, press Shift and the ? key on your keyboard
