Run Mendeley Reference Manager and Cite for Word on Windows

Mendeley is a free reference manager that helps you store, organize, annotate, share, and cite references and research data. It automatically generates bibliographies, lets you collaborate easily with other researchers online. It also allows you to import papers directly from other research software. In this guide, we shall discuss how to run Mendeley Reference Manager and Cite for Word on Windows. How to install Mendeley Reference Manager
Navigate to the following URL and download Mendeley Reference manager. Here is a link on how to Install Mendeley Reference Manager and Cite for Microsoft Word on Mac.

Upon download, double click on the executable as shown below and click next.

I am fine with the defaults and will click on install as shown below.

Mendeley Reference Manager is installing.

I will click on Finish to complete this step.

Since we selected the checkbox to run Mendeley Reference Manager, it will automatically be launched.

Add Add-ins to Microsoft Word
Mendeley Cite is the modern Word plugin (replaces old Desktop Cite-O-Matic). This step will be different depending on the version of Word you are running.
To do this, click on the Home button and navigate to Ad-ins as shown below.

When prompted as shown below, click on “Update Now”.

As you can see, we have successfully added the Mendeley Add-ins to word.

To proceed, click on the get Started button and you will be redirected to authenticate. Proceed and sign in with your Mendeley account.

You can now continue working with Mendeley Cite.
