How to change the Default First-Site-Name in Active Directory

change Default First-Site-Name

It’s worth re-emphasizing that the first domain controller in a forest, a default site (Default-First-Site-Name) is-created in AD DS. In this article, we will learn how to change the Default First-Site-Name in Active Directory. Please see this guide for how to set up VMs in Hyper in order to have Domain Controllers running on Virtual Machines, and “Post OS configure Windows Server 2019 Properties, and how to Setup and configure a DC.

As long as this site is the only site in the directory. All domain-controllers that you add to the forest are assigned to this site.

However, if your-forest will have multiple sites. You must create subnets that assign IP addresses-to Default-First-Site-Name as well as to all additional sites.

Also, see the Concept of Active Directory Computer Account, and how to install Endpoint Configuration Manager on HyperV VM. See How to modify Windows 11 Taskbar via Intune and GPO.

Default First-Site-Name in Active Directory

Ensure you change the Default First-Site-Name under Active directory Sites and Services to reflect the domain name. Or else the default name stays.

Open Active Directory Sites and Services, expand Sites and rename it

Active Directory

Right-click on the default-first-Site-Name and change this name.

modify First-Site-Name

Lastly hit enter on the keyboard. This will have the name changed.

Here is How To Configure a Domain Password Policy, and “WordPress site on Azure: How to create a website hosted in Azure“.

I hope you found this blog post on how to change the Default First-Site-Name in Active Directory helpful. Please let me know in the comment session if you have any questions.
