How to hold comments for review on YouTube

holding comments

Hold comments for review before displaying them on your video or channel. The YouTube comment section can be a lot of fun engaging your audience and continuing the conversation, leading to increased watch time. However, it can also be a source of negativity. With this fact knowing how to manage your comments is vital. Discover how to delete and disable comments plus troubleshoot a common problem. Note that you can also turn off comments on a specific video. You may want to learn more from the following link. Here are some related guides: Hide your YouTube subscriber count or your channel subscriptions public or private, how to integrate WordPress site with WP Telegram, how to enable or disable automatic Live Caption on macOS through Chrome, and YouTube Settles Contract Dispute With NBCUniversal To Retain Subscribers.

Before proceeding to show you the steps on how to hold all comments on YouTube, I would like to discuss the available settings below to you. You may want to see this guide: How to change or cancel your Trello plan.

Comment settings for videos

All Comments

All comments left on your video are immediately visible. You can view these comments on your Comments page, under the “Published” tab. Viewers can still report inappropriate comments and spam. Comments that violate our Community Guidelines may be removed. Comments that are likely spam may be automatically held for review in YouTube Studio for up to 60 days.

Hold potentially inappropriate comments for review

Potentially inappropriate comments can be held for review on your Comments page, under the “Held for Review” tab for about 60 days. You can view these comments from YouTube Studio, not the watch page. At the bottom of the tab, you may see a link to “Show hidden comments.” Click it to view potentially hurtful comments that are automatically held for review. YouTube can hold potentially inappropriate comments for review in over 100 languages.

YouTube’s system works to find potentially inappropriate comments, but it’s not always correct. As you review comments, the system gets better at finding comments to hold for review. If you want an even higher level of protection, select Increase strictness to hold more potentially inappropriate comments under the “Held for review” tab. Choosing to turn on this setting will use a stricter threshold when detecting potentially inappropriate content in comments across your channel.

Hold all comments for review

This is the option that is of interest to me. All comments must be manually approved before they can show. Comments can be reviewed on your Comments page, under the “Held for review” tab for up to 60 days. I will be showing you how this can be achieved very shortly.

Disable comments

But why would you do this? If for some reason, you do not want engagement, when comments are disabled, all comments must be manually approved before they can show. Comments can be reviewed on your Comments page, under the “Held for review” tab for up to 60 day.

In order to hold all comments for review, we will have to access your Studio dashboard and click on “Settings.” as shown below.

You could also get here by launching YouTube Studio, clicking on Settings and then on Community, and finally on Defaults. You should be able to find these settings below.

I would also like to know if you can filter the comments to show to people. This way it will be much easier to manage rather than approve them one by one 🙂 Thanks for the help!
