IP Address blocked on Synology NAS due to forgotten Password

In this article, I will show you a simple trick to fix “IP Address blocked on Synology NAS due to forgotten Password” only if you can recall (remember) your password. To protect you against brute force attacks, Synology NAS has an “auto-block” feature that will add an IP address to the block list when the failed login attempts have reached the maximum number defined. The duration of the block and the number of failed login attempts is configured in DSM. Please see Step-by-step guide on how to set up the Synology DS923+ NAS, and how to reset your lost or forgotten Windows 10 Password.

Why was this error prompted “IP Address has been blocked”?
This IP address has been blocked because it has reached the maximum number of failed login attempts allowed within a specific time period
This error was prompted because I entered the wrong username, and password numerous times. Several attempts led to my IP being blocked.

The solution to IP Address blocked on Synology NAS
There are different ways to resolve this issue. The first is very simple if you remember your username or password. In my case, I was able to recall the username after hitting myself so hard.
Launch a VPN Client
I will be using Norton for this example. If you do not have a password, wait for the default time to elapse, except you have altered this which I will be showing you in the next guide on how to protect your Synology NAS.
Launch the Norton App and connect as shown below.

Regardless of the option you use. Launching the menu or searching from the App, the desired result will be achieved.

It is sufficient to select Turn on. But because I wish to select a different region. I will open the client.

As you can see we are connected.

Now, I am granted access to my Synology NAS because I am connecting from a different IP.
Like I mentioned, this solution will only work if you remember the username and password or wait for the duration configured to elapse.
Unblock IP Address on Synology
You can still sign in to your DSM account from another IP address. Follow these steps to remove the blocked IP address:
Now, Let’s launch the “Control panel” to see if we can unblock the previous IP blocked.

Click on Security

Navigate to the location below to remove your blocked IP address.
Account > Allow/Block List > Block List.
Because, trusted clients are blocked after some minutes. I will not be able to show you these steps. Subsequently in the future, this scenario will be updated and the section will be updated.
Note: You can create and manage an allow list to exempt IP addresses that you trust from autoblock. You can also create and manage a block list to always prevent certain IP addresses from logging in to your Synology Router. Lists can be modified anytime by adding or removing IP addresses.
