In this blog post, we will discuss the steps to “Turn Focus On/Off: Enable or Disable Notifications for Apps on Mac”. Please see “Focus on Tasks: Limit Distraction: Get Things Done on Windows“, how to enable Siri on Mac devices, and Concept of DriveLock with a focus on Encryption. When you need to focus on a specific task, or just need a break from notifications on your Mac, you can turn on Do Not Disturb.

With “Do Not Disturb” activated, you won’t be interrupted by notifications as they come in. Instead, they’ll be quietly collected in the Notification Center for you to review later at your convenience.

Turn a Focus on or off on MacOS

To temporarily Turn on or off Focus, you can utilize the Control Center to turn on a Focus such as Do Not Disturb or Personal. For example, when you need time to concentrate, then turn it off when you’re ready.

Note: You can also turn the Do Not Disturb Focus on or off by pressing and holding the Option key while you click the date and time in the menu bar, or by pressing the Moon symbol if available in the row of function keys on the keyboard.

To do this, from the menu bar on your Mac. Click the Control Center. In the Control Center, click the Do Not Disturb icon to turn it on indefinitely.

Click on the “Do Not Disturb” control to choose a different duration, such as one hour.

The Do Not Disturb icon appears in the menu bar to indicate Do Not Disturb is on. To close the Control Center, click anywhere on the desktop.

Schedule Do Not Disturb

To schedule a “Do Not Disturb” permanently on Mac. Select the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and click Notifications. If you have the System Preferences on your Dock, you can click on it on the fly.
