Group Policy error

In this article, we shall discuss ‘Error: The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a DC. This may be a transient condition. A success message would be generated once the machine gets connected”. This error implies that a Windows client machine is unable to communicate with a Domain Controller (DC) to process Group Policy Objects (GPOs). Please see Task Scheduler Errors and Success Codes: Status Code 0x41301, and how to Fix Windows 11 Remote Desktop Connectivity Error code 0x204.

Group Policy is a feature of Windows Server that allows network administrators to manage and configure operating system settings, application settings, and user settings in an Active Directory (AD) environment. It is essential for maintaining compliance and uniformity across all devices in a network.

A Domain Controller is a server that responds to security authentication requests within a Windows domain. It is responsible for allowing clients to log on to the domain and applying Group Policies.

Also, see Active Directory: How to Setup a Domain Controller, How to add a second Domain Controller, and Why can’t I ping the Public IP Address of an EC2 instance?.

Reason for the error “The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a DC”?

This error is self-explanatory as mentioned above. This is because of a lack of network connectivity to a domain controller”.

network connectivity issue

Please, see AWS Flow logs Role: How to Guide, How to disable Spanning-Tree Globally, and KDC reply did not match expectations while getting initial credential.

Solution

This was because the Domain Controller was not available, as shown below.

transient condition

I can now apply Group Policy Network Connectivity Error correction correctly after turning on the DC.

This may be a transient condition. A success message would be generated once the machine gets connected”.

I hope you found this short piece very useful. Please feel free to leave a comment below.
