Sometimes, when you try to send an email through Microsoft Outlook, you might encounter the error message: “Microsoft Outlook cannot sign or encrypt this message.” This issue usually arises due to certificate problems with local S/MIME settings. Don’t worry—this guide will help you resolve this issue in both Outlook for the Web and Outlook for the Desktop. Please see How to Fix Microsoft Outlook Not Syncing Issue, and How To Encrypt Email Sent In Microsoft Outlook.

Either get a new digital ID to use with this account, or use the Accounts button to send the message using an account that you have certificates for.

This message indicates that Outlook is trying to use local S/MIME settings and certificates, which may not be properly configured.
