
WampServer is a Web development platform on Windows that allows you to create dynamic Web applications with Apache2, PHP, MySQL and MariaDB. WampServer automatically installs everything you need to intuitively develop Web applications. You will be able to tune your server without even touching its settings files. Note: When you update only “Wampmanager“. It does not add any Apache PHP, MySQL or MariaDB versions as it is a cumulative update. There will be no changes to your Apache, PHP, MySQL, or MariaDB settings and versions used; your local sites and databases will not be affected. This update is necessary to install the latest Apache, PHP, MySQL or MariaDB addons. Please see how to uninstall WAMPServer from Windows.
Update WampServer to Latest Version
Because we have installed an Old version, there is a need to update all the components as I prepare to install TeamPass Password Manager. First, you will need to download the associated Wampserver components.

Step 1: Download the WampServer Update
Please proceed to the following URL to download the Wampserver

Download Apache and Phpmyadmin
As shared in the URL above, use the same link to download the “phpmyadmin
“, and “Apache
“respectively.

Download PHP 8.2.4
Also, use the URL above to download the latest version of the PHP Application.

Download MySQL 8.0.32
Do the same for MySQL by downloading the latest version.

Step 2: Install the downloaded Wampserver update 3.3.1
As you can see in the downloads folder, all the Wampserver components have been downloaded. It is time to install and we are going to install each component one after the other.

Upgrade Wampserver to the latest version
To install the latest version of the Wampserver, double-click on the setup files as shown below. Please follow through the prompts and click on “install” as shown below when prompted.

Kindly choose “automatically close the applications”. and click on Next

Click on Next

Finish to complete the WAMP Server Update!

Upgrade Apache Addon 2.4.56
To upgrade Apache to the latest version, you will need to double-click on the setup file you just downloaded.

The following window below describes the necessary information regarding the Apache update!

On the ready-to-install, click on the Install
button as shown below.

You are been shown how to change to the latest version of Apache when the upgrade is complete.

Click on Finish to complete this step.

Install MySQL 8.0.32
Double-click on the setup files for MySQL as well. Select your desired English. In my case, English is preferable.

On the ready-to-install window, Click on the Install button to update MySQL to the latest version.

Now, you are been shown how to change the version of MySQL version to the latest version.

Click on Next and Finish to complete this step.

Install PHP Addon 8.2.4
To Install the PHP Add on to the latest version, double-click on the setup file. Select Ok when prompted with the desired language. If not, select your language of choice.

The window below is just informational. Click on Next to continue with the update.

On the Read-to-Install window, click on Install
to update the PHP version.

One of the images below shows how to change the PHP version after the upgrade.

Click on Finish to complete this step.

Update MyPHPAdmin to the latest version
To update the MyPHPAmin version to the latest version, double-click on the setup file.

This process is similar to the installation of the Wampserver itself. Select the installation location and click on Next.

This time, I will have to replace the existing version. When this is done, click on Next.

On the Ready to Install button, click on Install as shown below.

Click on Yes, to suppress the old version of phpmyadmin
.

Click on Finish to complete this process.

Start WampServer
Now that the upgrade of Wampserver components to the latest version is complete. We can now start the WAMPServer using the shortcut on your desktop.

Change Components to the latest versions Installed
1: Select the Latest Apache Version Installed

Select Apache
and click on version and select the latest version available.

In the image below, you will have to press A and then hit the Enter Key to update Apache.

When the above is done, you will be required to allow Apache HTTP Server to communicate on this network. Click on Allow Access.

As you can see below, Apache is now running with the latest version.

2: Select the Latest PHP Version Installed
We will have to follow the same steps to ensure PHP uses the latest version installed. Please click on the latest version. In my case, it is 8.2.4.

The update will run, and the latest version will be selected.

3: Select the Latest MySQL Version Installed
Let’s do the same for MySQL. Ensure the latest version is selected. In my case 8.0.32

Now that the update has run, the latest version is now in use.

Note: For PHPMyAdmin, you do not need to change the version, as we selected to have it replaced as shown below. we are running the latest installed version.
