Slack is a messaging app that helps business connect people to the information they need. By bringing people together to work as one unified team, Slack transforms the way organizations communicate. With Slack, you are guaranteed a more connected, flexible, and inclusive way of working. Furthermore, Slack organizes conversations into channels, where everyone can come together in one place to share ideas, make decisions and move work forward. It helps teams operate faster and stay in sync, wherever they are. Click the elipses (three dots) on the right of the member you want to remove from your workspace and select “Deactivate account” from the options that appear.

You can also change the Slack account type. By this you are managing their roles. Only people in administrative roles can manage roles for other members and guests.

As you can see below, the user has been successfully deactivated.

Note: This means, the app removes them from all your channels, signs them out of your workspace on all devices, and prevents them from signing back in.

When you deactivate someone’s account on your workspace, it won’t delete messages and files they previously shared on channels and direct messages. Also, it won’t notify them that you removed their access to your workspace.

Now that the account has been deactivated, if you wish to reactivate it. Please follow the steps below. But if you wish to remove the inactive members or guests from your workspace, kindly see this guide: How to remove a user from a Slack Channel
